So I found the embedded videos play on other sites using a different browser than my primary browser, so it seems to be an issue with my browser and not YouTube or the sites where YT videos are posted.
Brave is the browser I tested that I COULD see the videos with. Vivaldi is the one I'm having trouble with. I like Vivaldi because it's the most customizable browser available.
I figured out the problem with YT videos not playing on other sites. Somehow YT would recognize me when I'd watch videos on YT, but it didn't when I was on other sites (you have to be logged in to see them, or surf as a guest account). I changed my YT password and that fixed the issue. Hope that helps.
