Sorry to be such a needy one, please FAmily, need prayers. Just got scary news about our 5 yo grandson.

Backstory: He suddenly started limping 6 days ago. No pain. Nothing happened. Weird. I was pretty sure it could be transient synovitis. Mom took him in today. Got blood work and xray. I pray the lame hospital here got it wrong, as they do a lot, but they say Legg-Calve-Perthes. He is on the way to a children's hospital further upstate. 🙏🏻

Legg-Calve-Perthes (LEG-kahl-VAY-PER-tuz) disease is a childhood condition that occurs when blood supply to the ball part (femoral head) of the hip joint is temporarily interrupted and the bone begins to die.

Transient synovitis (sin-oh-vie-tis), commonly called irritable hip, is the most common cause of limping in children. It is due to inflammation (swelling) of the lining of the hip joint. In most cases of irritable hip, your child will have recently recovered from a viral infection.

Sharing. Grandson is being a little trooper. Finally got into a room. His dad is on a business trip & so worried so he did thumbs up for him. So brave. God love him!❤️ 🙏🏻

2 teenagers came in on stretchers. Cut themselves on purpose. Probably mental due to the covid plandemic lockdown would be my guess. They made quite a scene and therefore delayed grandson getting his room. Yikes.

1 Grandson went back to school(preK)Tues. Loved it. Went in stroller "Offroad Bob". Teacher made special parking spot. Goes to storytime on rug etc w/ other kids much as possible. Dad went w/ him. Aide took GS to do errand so teacher showed video dad found to teach kids abt Legg-Calve-Perthes disease.

1 of the girls heard video mention blood to hip so she grabbed my son's hand&looked him in the eyes and said, Coach D, he can have some of my blood if he wants😭

2 Son & DIL coach GS teeball team.

Gonna let him hit off tee and have someone else run. I told them ask him what he wants to do! Dad wants him to hit from stroller. Mom does not. Let him choose! As much as possible. I feel like stroller is less independent than wheelchair. Mom is bugged by wheelchair, because that is an instant disabled label. Still as independent as possible is best. I get it. It's tough! Crushing!

Next I'll tell about ortho visit today.

3 Dr happy w/ the mobility he still has. We have exercises to do 3x a day. Didn't get a good vibe. He only does 3 maybe 5 perthes cases a yr. Basically said limited movement, no impact like we"ve been doing, no bracing at this time, short walks, basically what we've been doing.

Also said it didn't seem like it would take a yr in a wheelchair. Thinks the bone will start to heal before a yr 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.

Will not see him again, have the name of a really good dr at CHOP. SO WE PRAY🙏🏻
