Tomorrow:
- Numbers 4-7 (dry, but adultery test & Nazirite vow are interesting)
- 1 Kings 17-20 (Elijah/Ahab/ Jezebel; Mt. Carmel)
- Psalms 79-82
- Lamentations 3 - Ezekiel 1 (Hear a tune in your head with Lamentations 3:22-24; the book of Ezekiel starts off with a bang!)
- Romans 4-7 (The "desert." Also see 6:3-6 - it's a shame some people use 1 Corinthians 1:17 to preach Paul didn't believe baptism necessary!)

I know I have hit this a couple of times. Baptism. Perhaps the most common and worst false teaching I can think of is that baptism isn't necessary, and that it was Paul who said so.
If I can help arm people with only one thing, it is the ability to take the double-edged sword of the Word to this killer of souls and destroy it... mercilessly.
2 Corinthians 10:5
@h53pilot @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois @sjc I was christened as a baby because I was raised Catholic. When I gave my life to Christ at age 30, I was baptized.
Without getting into any debate?
I find this fascinating.

@Horatio @h53pilot @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois @sjc Through a series of life-altering events, I had an undeniable spiritual awakening when I was 30. But I can tell you that I had questions in 3rd grade, in high school, in my early 20's- never answered until I met a woman who was "on fire" for Jesus. She witnessed to me for a year. Never pushing, always there to talk. When something major happened in my life, I just new instinctively to call her. She was expecting my call not
@Horatio @h53pilot @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois @sjc knowing anything. We met, talked, prayed & she led me through a " sinner's prayet. The rest, as they say, his history. Praise God!
@pamby1 @Horatio @h53pilot @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois thank you, Pam, this was fascinating!
@sjc @Horatio @h53pilot @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois What's fascinating to me, is that God gas been "wooing" me my entire life. So great is His love for ALL of us.

Yes. He seeks every soul. It's lifechanging when a believer discovers this.
@h53pilot
So strange. Today I was talking to my sister about baptism. I too was baptized as a baby like all Catholics. Well I’ve changed, evolved and do I now need another baptism? Call me nuts but I’ve solved my water drinking problem (I hate drinking water). When I read the Bible I drink a jar of 2 1/2 cups of water and I told my sister it’s my baptism. I’ve been doing this every morning and evening. My goal 3 times a day. @pamby1 @sjc @Horatio @PitchforkPatriot @LoveAlmonds @Lois
@PitchforkPatriot @KodiakIsland @h53pilot @sjc @Horatio @LoveAlmonds When I was a new believer,my pastor explained it like this:the water itself doesn't do any saving-it's an outward expression of an inward commitment.We should & must be bold enough to make a public confession of Christ& baptism does that.Jesus was baptized so why wouldn't WE be?I did it as an adult because I am was making a conscious choice where I couldn't as a baby. @h53pilot would be able to explain it better biblically.
@pamby1 @PitchforkPatriot @KodiakIsland @h53pilot @sjc @Horatio @LoveAlmonds There are many opinions on this and I studied the issue myself and I don't think the bible is all that conclusive on it. I personally do not believe it is necessary to be re-baptized but I also don't think there is any harm in it. I also believe that baptism is a sign for the whole church more than for the individual. I don't think the method or the timing is that important. It's the heart that matters.

Baptism is important, and is essential for someone who’s believed the Gospel message. Mark 16:16 would be used as a proof text by those who say that without baptism, a person isn’t saved, but Jesus Himself said that “He who believes in Me has everlasting life” - John 6:47. I wasn’t baptized immediately after I believed the Gospel, but I was definitely saved as the LORD changed me.
@Phil @pamby1 @PitchforkPatriot @KodiakIsland @h53pilot @sjc @Horatio @LoveAlmonds
I was baptized shortly thereafter, but as I stated before, God was at work in me before I was “dunked!” And I was, at one time, a practicing Catholic who’d been baptized as a baby, and experienced First Communion and Confirmation as a youngster...
@ajthethird
Same here. Ex Catholic and 12 yrs Catholic schooling. After reading so many comments I think God reveals things to us at certain times. The Bible is like an onion skin. “Each”time I read a passage something new is revealed that I didn’t see before. It’s the most amazing book. I was baptized as a baby. Now I’m old and I’ve a yearning in my heart to get baptized as an adult. I’m in a non denominational church. @Phil @pamby1 @PitchforkPatriot @h53pilot @sjc @Horatio @LoveAlmonds
@KodiakIsland @ajthethird @Phil @pamby1 @PitchforkPatriot @h53pilot @sjc @Horatio @LoveAlmonds I too was baptized not as an infant but as a child, when I became an adult I decided to do it again with an adult mind about what it means.
