Tomorrow will be a day off from reading the Word.

Below is a link to the 15th lesson on Revelation. The series is in chapter 11 now. Lots of visual imagery. The temple of God under the New Covenant.

We'll be back to reading Friday.

Tomorrow:

- Numbers 16-17 (The earth swallows Korah's rebels. Aaron's rod buds)

- 2 Kings 7-8 (The Syrian army deserts)

- Psalm 91-92 (Psalm 91 a great prayer of comfort)

- Ezekiel 10-11 (The Gospel is prophesied in 11:19-20)

- Romans 16 - 1 Corinthians 1 (Paul rhetorically asks Christians whether they were baptized in the name of Paul. Given its context, what does it imply about baptism?)

I think that's about it. I hope this helps provide comfort that there IS another possibility if devolution becomes a less comfortable theory as events unfold.

I’m not predicting that. I’m just preparing for that possibility.

Regardless, ALL of us need to be active in local election processes. No matter what happens, or what solution is in place (and especially if there isn’t one) we need to be active.

I think that's it. Time for the Word. Join me.

Five days later… hope you all had a great Christmas.

I’ll give a quick recap of where we ought to be today according to this theory I’ve put forward. And It’s only theory.

We are in some state of devolvement, a term I’m going to stop using and change to government in exile.

Devolution, I think, implies that legitimacy is yet to be attained…

Truth: God is Love. But He is also Truth (John 1:14). Those who reject truth fall headlong into the natural consequences of rejecting it. We see it everywhere.

"And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God [truth] any longer, God gave them over [His designed, natural consequences] to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; [etc...]"

"For even though they knew [or at least could know] God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures."

So, those who accuse Christians (at least this one) of blind faith in God have no idea what they're talking about.

The Bible didn't convince me there IS a God. I already believed that before I ever believed a single word of the Bible.

The Bible tells me WHO God is.

Which brings us back to the starting passage of last night:

the Bible becomes the ONLY explanation that doesn't eventually eliminate itself (by some contradiction) as a possibility.

The fact that science is eventually stumped by the big bang theory means it can never explain Who caused the beginning.

Something else must explain it to us.

I sought the answer and found it...

adequately explain Who caused THE beginning. I'm not sure those religions even attempt address this very reasonable conclusion.

For me, without having reached this conclusion - that there WAS a beginning - and following that with the question "Who did that," the Bible is just another system of beliefs from which a person can choose.

If one is looking for an answer to the question, "Who..."

That steady diet of the Bible did not convince me of anything by reason - the one thing that separates us from everything else in the known, created universe (reason that is).

But the Bible (the Word of God, the Creator) provides the only satisfactory answer to the question:

"WHO caused the beginning?"

Nothing else even comes close.

Those religions, for instance, which are based on polytheism, do not...

The point I'm trying to make is there is process of going from:

"there WAS a beginning"

to the cause of that beginning:

"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!"
~ Deuteronomy 6:4

That's the silent leap I made last night.

This was my own journey into finally becoming a Christian - three years ago - after having been RAISED on a steady diet of the Bible every day...

Science DOES bring us to the very reasonable hypothesis that there was a big bang. But that is only a hypothesis. One I, even as a Christian, have no problem with.

But I'm accidentally drifting sideways in the discussion.

The conclusion that there was a beginning does not mean conclusion there is God, the One True Creator. That requires further thought and reasoning, which I won't get into in much detail...

For instance, the laws of conservation of energy and matter are accepted by all science. Without those being true, science is useless.

As a Christian, I also accept those laws just as scientists do.

The big bang theory, which science has hypothesized (a word which has a different meaning than concluded), violates these laws of conservation. Therefore, that's where science (and human understanding) stop...

Since it is a dreary and rainy day here in the FL panhandle, I decided to add a few thoughts to this.

There is a leap I made from one conclusion to another that I did not highlight, but it is very important.

Note that when I used reason to conclude that there was a beginning, I did not use anything from the Bible. I used logic and observation of the temporal world and its scientifically known properties...

That is, a belief that leads to obedience of Whom we believe in - the omnipotent, One, True God and Creator of all things.

Who, that TRULY believes, could ever disobey Him?

Also, Romans 1:18-23 says the same things, essentially.

Ok, I'll climb off the soap box... for now.

Accepting God does not mean understanding Him or His ways. He has told all we need to know to fulfill our created purpose.

Someone else might tell you how many hours of driving time it is. Pedantic folks like me would probably state both.

We can't have space without time nor time without space.

WHO caused space/time? Since there was a beginning of them, that is.

Reason tells us these things are true. Accepting truth does not mean understanding it...

If reason says this, why are there stars still fusing hydrogen?

Therefore, there WAS a beginning for time and space. This conclusion is reasonable.

Einstein tells us space and time are two different ways to express the same thing. This can be simply illustrated. Ask someone how far it is from Dallas to LA. One might tell you how many miles it is (space)…

If time is infinite, why is any energy left at all? Why have the stars not burned up all the hydrogen in the universe?

Hydrogen, the simplest atom, cannot replenish itself according to science.

All hydrogen in the universe, given enough time, should have been fused into other elements by the stars. If time is infinite, there would have been enough time...

Few would argue that if time were infinite, we could never arrive at the end of time.

Now reverse the progression.

Could we ever arrive at the beginning of the infinite past? Of course not, and few would argue with that conclusion.

But if that is true, we could never have left the infinite past, either...

which means we could never have arrived here at the current time...
