Thread: A Compilation of interesting News re: etc.

September 3rd, 2021.

(I'll keep doing these threads for now, while there's lots of news and the situation is continuing to develop.)

"Heavy fighting is reported between Taliban forces and resistance fighters in Afghanistan's Panjshir Valley."

'EU countries on Friday laid out conditions for stepping up engagement with the Taliban, agreeing to establish a joint Kabul civilian presence to help departures if security allows.

"We have to engage with the new government in Afghanistan, which doesn't mean recognition, it's an operational engagement," EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said after a meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers in Slovenia."'

""We hope in the next 24 or 48 hours to see the opening of humanitarian corridors so humanitarian aid can enter through Kabul airport -- and other functioning airports," Mutlaq al-Qahtani told the Qatari channel from Afghanistan.

A jet from the Gulf country was the first foreign aircraft to land in the Afghan capital on Wednesday since frenzied evacuations ended a day earlier with the American withdrawal."

"Imp communication btwn & at a time of flux in .
* UAE has given refuge to former Afghan President
* Has played a huge role in evacuation
* Has sent aid for Afghans
* UAE was 1 of 3 countries to have recognised in its previous regime"

Lots of conflicting information about the battles between Taliban and Resistance Forces in Panjshir, unsurprisingly.

Pro TB accounts claiming much success.
Pro Resistance accounts claiming much success.
Both sides claiming to have captured real estate and killed hundreds of fighters.

Not worth transmitting each individual claim/tweet as it's impossible to verify them.

It is worth sharing these tweets, though.

'Enemies after 9/11, US and Taliban inch towards uneasy alliance against Isis-K'

"Both sides look to have cooperated to quash Isis-K in a province of Afghanistan last year, paving the way for a deal on the US troop withdrawal

Analysts say a ‘marriage of counterterrorism convenience’ looks likely as Washington pursues Isis-K and the Taliban looks to remove threats to its rule"

'The Taliban is expected to announce its new government on Saturday, Sept.4

"The movement’s supreme leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada, is expected to have ultimate power over a new governing council, with a president below...

The hardline cleric Akhundzada would exercises total control over all spiritual and temporal affairs as 'Commander of the Faithful' over the 'Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan' - akin to the Ayatollah...'

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar to be President.

Kabul suicide bomber may have been freed from Bagram or some other prison.

In other words, Biden Admin's haphazard, rapid, and ill planned withdrawal resulted in this man being freed.

Bloody Biden.

I shared this earlier, before listening to it, and now that I have heard it, I gotta say...

Great questions and of course great insights and information from ECW.

I'm going to listen to it again and take notes. May do a thread on it soon.

'Counterbalance | Ep. 26:

Was A Failure of Intelligence?

w/ Ezra Cohen, Michael Doran & Marshall Kosloff'

Thrilling to see that Marine disable that vehicle, and we can just hope that scene was repeated many, many times over.

Every single bit of truth will, for some time yet, be countered with at least as much falsehood.

This is necessary to keep pressure on Binder Joe.
