@nugger @relentless_eduardo they lost their kingdom the moment they betrayed the Crusaders in the 1st Crusade and after that. Bunch of cucks I would say.

@MK2boogaloo @nugger@poa.st

it was the crusaders who betrayed them

the reason the byzantines fell is because of an internal fight between the military and the bureaucracy and the invasion of the seljuk turks

@relentless_eduardo >it was the crusaders who betrayed them

The Byzantines saw the Europeans as barbarians from the west, cited from the book Alexiad by Anna Komnene, the daughter of Alexios, Basileus of the Byzantine Empire.

In numerous occasions, the Byzantine army harassed the moving Crusaders. In Antioch, they even refused to help the Crusaders, and turned back to Constantinople. Yet the Crusaders won a stunning victory without their help.

>the reason the byzantines fell is because of an internal fight between the military and the bureaucracy and the invasion of the seljuk turks

You fail to see that this is the sign of a declining empire, there's no peace in the Byzantine holdings. The realm is plagued with civil wars almost all the time. They weren't even able to throw back the Seljuk invasion, and when given the chance they treated the Crusaders in bad ways.

@MK2boogaloo

the entire structure of the roman empire was officially transferred to constantinople

of course there were civil wars an brushfires just like when the empire was based in rome

the bureaucracy in constantinople won out against the military aristocracy in the 10 C.

Without military support the empire was unable to fight off the seljuks

as you might recall the romans called everybody but themselves barbarians

@relentless_eduardo >the entire structure of the roman empire was officially transferred to constinople

So? Culturally, they're not the Romans. The Romans settled down as Italians dude.

>of course there were civil wars an brushfires just like when the empire was based in rome

Who the fuck think it's a good thing to replicate that?

>Without military support the empire was unable to fight off the seljuks

It's as thus their own fault no?

>as you might recall the romans called everybody but themselves barbarians

The Chinese also did that, I wonder what happened to people that are too proud yet can't do shit when threatened with violence.
