casey is remote<p>You know what's funny about the <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Target" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Target</span></a> situation, I really think their current scandal could sink the company. This is mostly due to what I would call "The <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Starbucks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Starbucks</span></a> Effect". Just like how <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/McDonalds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>McDonalds</span></a> changed the complete design of their stores to match <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Starbucks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Starbucks</span></a>, <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Target" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Target</span></a> changed their whole design to match other, more modern stores like <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Walmart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Walmart</span></a>. </p><p>Granted, it's not entirely a bad design, but they removed a competitive advantage that they held over <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Walmart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Walmart</span></a>, because they used to offer a different experience while selling the same products. But after they killed the popcorn machines and neutered the food courts, and removed the neat <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/LED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LED</span></a> lighting, the former <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Target" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Target</span></a> fans (the core audience that was pretty passionate about the store actually) slowly started to drift away. They additionally lost a bunch <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Christian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Christian</span></a> families and shoppers with the addition of their androgynous <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/CatAndJack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CatAndJack</span></a> kids clothing line, which is central at their scandal today (but funny enough this is nothing new and has been happening for years).</p><p>Now they everyone knows they've gone "full <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/BudLight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BudLight</span></a>", there's little reason to go there. Nobody wants to go to a store just to support its ideological message, <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Target" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Target</span></a> no longer offers anything unique to <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Walmart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Walmart</span></a>, and what's more, the <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Walmart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Walmart</span></a> stores are actually bigger now and are probably a better place to go if you want to do a whole shopping run and get everything you need at just a single place.</p>
