Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem told Al-Arabiya TV on Saturday that there “are currently no negotiations with the movement regarding the second phase.”

“The occupation is responsible for not starting the negotiations for the second phase of the Gaza agreement. The occupation wants to retrieve its captives with the possibility of resuming the aggression on the #Gaza Strip. The occupation is evading its commitment to ending the war and withdrawing completely from Gaza,” he said.

On Friday, the group called on mediators and the international community to pressure Israel to move forward with the second phase, reaffirming its full commitment to implementing the deal amid reports that Israel seeks to extend the first phase.

British-Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu Setah said that the Israeli occupying authorities view the destruction of the healthcare system in the #Gaza Strip as preliminary preparation for a plan of #genocide.
...He added that “Israel did not only target buildings but also destroyed 33 out of 36 #hospitals that were providing services throughout the region.”
The doctor saw the importance of prosecuting Israeli officials, soldiers, and politicians in The #Hague for their destruction of the #healthcare system in Gaza, saying, “Otherwise, every future #war will follow the model of Gaza, as the destruction of the healthcare system played a central role in the management of the war.”

Since October 2023, Gaza's healthcare system has been under relentless attack, with medical workers becoming primary targets. Hospitals are barely functioning, with critical resources and specialists in short supply. Many ambulances have been struck and destroyed and humanitarian physicians trying to enter Gaza have faced harassment and restriction at the border, often fearing for their safety.

The World Health Organisation #WHO has recorded over 600 attacks on #healthcare facilities in #Gaza and the killing of more than 1,000 medical workers, with no accountability. In one case, the Israeli military raided Kamal Adwan Hospital, detaining staff and setting fire to the building.

"Despite these documented abuses and the international community calling for thorough investigations, to this day, not a single person has been charged for any crime against #hospitals in the enclave."

Sinjil, home to about 5,000 people, was one of several Palestinian towns and villages targeted by a wave of Israeli settler violence in the past few days, triggered by the implementation of a #ceasefire and hostage release deal in the war in #Gaza.

At least six villages across the West Bank – Sinjil, Turmus Ayya, Ein Sinya and Luban e-Sharkiya near Ramallah, and Funduq and Jinsafut, near Nablus – were targeted on Sunday and Monday night by dozens of Israeli men and boys. Many wore masks, residents said. Health authorities said 21 Palestinians were injured in the attacks.
Settler violence is not a new phenomenon across area C, the 60% of the West Bank under Israeli civil and military control, but it has soared since far-right settler leaders were elected to Israel’s government at the end of 2022.

According to Abu Salmiya, there are 20,000 patients and wounded #Palestinians in #Gaza in need of treatment, of whom 12,000 are in dire conditions. “Nearly 6,000 people wounded by the war need urgent treatment in facilities abroad. These include roughly 4,000 amputees, and more than 2,000 cases sustaining serious injuries to their backbone and their spinal cord, resulting in crippling and paralysis,” he said.

“We’re losing patients with conditions that we could’ve easily handled if not for the war. We’ve lost nearly 25 percent of our dialysis patients. Infants with heart conditions are dying on a daily basis in incubators because we cannot operate on them. As many as 20 patients of curable illnesses die every day in front of helpless staff,” noted Abu Salmiya.
The stakes are high for patients and their families, who have endured immense suffering during the 15-month war. “Our #children are dying in front of our eyes,” Shadia said. “We are powerless because our #medical system is overwhelmed. The #ceasefire and #Rafah ’s reopening are our only hope.”

Israel has opened an underground #prison for detainees from #Hamas and #Hezbollah groups where they are denied access to sunlight, according to Israeli media cited by the Anadolu news agency.

According to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, the facility, located in central #Israel, is designed to house “the most dangerous individuals” from Hamas’s elite forces and Hezbollah’s Radwan Unit.

“This is their natural place, underground,” far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who oversees the police, reportedly told KAN.

The broadcaster said some 75 detainees were currently being held at the underground prison.

“Even the small window in the ward has been sealed off for the detainees,” it added.
Describing the conditions in the underground prison as harsh, KAN said detainees there are shackled and confined to their cells for 23 hours a day.

“They are allowed only one brief opportunity per day to step into a small, enclosed yard,” it added. “Even this small yard is completely closed and the sunlight can’t reach it, and detainees are allowed to go out into it once a day.”

#Israeli officials have obstructed a UN investigation into alleged sexual crimes committed by Hamas fighters during the 7 October 2023 Al-Aqsa Flood operation, fearing this would open the door to a probe into the rampant allegations of sexual violence against Palestinians inside Israeli torture camps.

According to a report by Israeli daily Haaretz, Tel Aviv rejected a request from Pramila Patten, the #UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on #SexualViolence in Conflict, to investigate the allegations against #Hamas after she established that a necessary condition would be access to Israeli detention centers to probe claims against Israeli soldiers.

Nevertheless, since the start of the Israeli genocide in #Gaza, #humanrights organizations have documented dozens of accounts of the rampant sexual violence inflicted on #Palestinians inside Israeli detention centers.

And now the real face of #zionazis: On 27 August, Channel 14 hosted one of the Sde Teiman guards accused of raping Palestinians on one of its programs. The soldier stated, “The military police treated us really nice... You see the support … With a hand on their heart, like, telling you ‘thank you’!”

#UN human rights chief says #Israel has not provided evidence for claims on #Gaza hospitals
Volker Turk says the UN has recorded 136 Israeli attacks on 27 #health facilities in Gaza, which have caused “significant death and destruction”. While Israel often states that #Palestinian armed groups use such facilities for military purposes, Turk said Israel has not backed up those claims with evidence.

“Israel has not provided sufficient information to substantiate many of these claims, which are often vague and broad. In some cases they appear to be contradicted by publicly available information,” Turk said in remarks to the United Nations Security Council.

Turk called for an independent investigation to probe Israel’s attacks on hospitals and the allegations that #Hamas is using those facilities for military purposes.
