I've been to job fairs in person but online is different.I already have my resume and stuff set up, I just want to know how things work, if people can give me that info. Robin Frost<p>Hey <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a> friends of Mastodon, is Apple's event with Audio Description only in their Apple TV app or do they put it on Youtube in real time too? And is it audio or video description? I never, ever, can keep the terminology straight which makes me feel old.</p>
Nick's world 🌎 👨‍🦯 🗽<p>I'm not completely hopeless, I just know what I've been through from my personal experience of being outright ghosted or rejected, not even an interview, just full ghosted or rejected, and I know why, even though they'll never say it. I have the skills they want, I have the experience they want, that shouldn't be the issue. If I have what they want, the market should accommodate, but it doesn't, so far, now, I just have to hope that one does accommodate, so its moving through the trenches.<br><a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Disability</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Jobs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jobs</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/JobMarket" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JobMarket</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blind</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Employment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Employment</span></a></p>
Nick's world 🌎 👨‍🦯 🗽<p>If this was not true, we wouldn't need to worry about disclosing our disabilities. In an ideal world, we could apply, mention our disability, still be hired and treated with the respect and dignity we deserve as people with disabilities. In an ideal world, people with disabilities would be able to be hired for jobs that pay high level figures, not gruntwork jobs that pay peanuts while the able bodied people get paid the big bucks while only 0.1% of 1% of people with disabilities make 6 to 7 figures. I know however, that this isn't an ideal world, this is an imperfect world, so we must deal with it as people, because that's just how it is, so I'll continue fighting, but I know never to expect anything, because if you do, your hopes get dashed. <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Disability</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Jobs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jobs</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Employment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Employment</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/JobMarket" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JobMarket</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a></p>
Nick's world 🌎 👨‍🦯 🗽<p>Blindness shouldn't define who we are as people, it really shouldn't. My dad has always said that blindness is a characteristic, like being a certain color or having a hobby. Ideally, i wish the world thought like this, but in reallity, blindness does indeed define who we are as people because that's what employers see first. They don't care about the years of school, the skills you gained, the knowledge you have, its always that one thing first, and it sucks, because blind people, any person with a disability is way more than just their disability. Employers need to realize this, but in 2025, a world that was suppose to be progressive, its not this way. <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Disability</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Employment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Employment</span></a>, <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/JobMarket" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JobMarket</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Jobs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jobs</span></a></p>

Devin Prater :blind:<p>A few notes on AI and blind gaming:<br>Last night, I tried a few games with TalkBack's AI. I believe it's using one of the smaller models. Anyway, I played Mortal Kombat, Shaolin Monks, and Fire Emblem, Awakening. Both ended in failure for different reasons. Mortal Kombat ended because I couldn't orient my character to move to the passageway that the AI said was either to my left or right. I did, however, manage to get the first item and defeat a few enemies. It was a lot more button mashing than I hoped for, though. In games, I really like to know what's going on, which I feel isn't what many blind video gamers are after.</p><p>With Fire Emblem, Awakening, I wasn’t able to finish the tutorial in 30 minutes because I had know idea why one character was always in battles and the other one was seemingly wandering around an empty place. I mean, I know there are blind people who have been playing games since they were like 9 months old and who can beat any Pokemon game without access scripts, but I just ain't one of them. Granted, Mk Shaolin Monks was a test to me, to see if AI can help me know where to go in these types of 3D games. I really didn't anticipate archways and hallways and such. So that will probably take a larger, thinking model with realtime screen access. I should try Gemini Live again at some point and see if it's improved any. Last time I tried it couldn't even give me controller inputs and Mk Deadly Alliance moves correctly.</p><p><a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gaming</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blind</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a></p>

Dan Gero<p>Question for fellow <a href="https://vocalounge.cafe/tags/NVDA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NVDA</span></a> users: why has the Office Desk addon been discontinued? I saw the message from the addon itself and read the homepage. It says it has been discontinued and that I should uninstall it, but it doesn't give a reason for it. I'd understand if it said something like, "The features in this addon have been merged into the core," or something like that, but it doesn't. <a href="https://vocalounge.cafe/tags/Accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://vocalounge.cafe/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a> <a href="https://vocalounge.cafe/tags/ScreenReader" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScreenReader</span></a></p>

DoorDash is a mess. Instacart restaurants isn't much better. I wonder what people prefer these days. It's enough to make me just make my own dinner. It's gotta be me.</p>
Sy Hoekstra<p>I have had two white canes 🦯 completely destroyed by passersby, one guy who tripped on it, and one who ran it over with a car. Both immediately fled the scene. This post is partially about how I got home, which in one case involved divine intervention. It's behind a paywall now, but free in a month, like all my posts. That's how I'm trying, for the moment, to make this new thing I'm doing sustainable. <a href="https://deepsy.net/p/why-you-must-always-carry-a-spare-fa3" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">deepsy.net/p/why-you-must-alwa</span><span class="invisible">ys-carry-a-spare-fa3</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Blindness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blindness</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Disability</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Writing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Writing</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Humor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Humor</span></a> <a href="https://tweesecake.social/tags/Comedy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Comedy</span></a></p>
