They have some previous familiarity with <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ubuntu</a> but honestly Ubuntu 24.04 seems like a steaming pile of crap compared to previous versions, Ubuntu used to be the distro where everything just worked but 24.04 seems like the distro from hell, a lot of software just doesn't want to work.I know you said on a recent video that you have to put some effort into learning Linux but the thing is that a lot of Linux packages that people recommend and that work great in other distros (or so people online say) or that even worked great in a previous Ubuntu version just don't seem to want to work in 24.04. Even simple things like a clipboard manager that will actually paste into an application's text entry area seems impossible to find; several have that function but in Ubuntu 24.04 it does nothing.I don't know if it's because they switched from X windows to Wayland, or because they have f'ed around with Gnome, or what is going on but I cannot in good conscience recommend Ubuntu to this person. Plain Debian is probably still just a little too hands-on for them, and I just have no idea what is considered a good user-friendly distro these days, if you take Ubuntu and Mint out of the candidates. Maybe in a couple of years Pop_OS will be the one everyone recommends, if they make the Cosmic desktop perform to expectations, but what is the best choice now?

adaFedi-folks, what's your daily linux driver?For work purpose I had to use Kali occasionally, apart from that even Windows is enough for most of my daily work (and less hassle in general).I'm now entertaining the idea of working on linux only.
