Welcome to the historical town of St Andrews. Featuring the world's 3rd oldest English-speaking university, the ruins of St Andrews clifftop castle, and an otherworldly rock formation east of the town.

There's PLENTY more photos from this day too! Isn't that nice? Just go here -> iancylkowski.com/blog/2025/3/1 👍

The Fife Coastal Path from Anstruther to Pittenweem then St. Monans.

Powerful gusts still battered us on the coast, but that just heightened the mood and drama. Gorgeous sandstone formations and beautiful coastal fishing villages... lovely.

And there's more photos from this day! I implore you, wayfinder, seek ye here iancylkowski.com/blog/2025/3/6 👍

#AmReading Small Bomb at Dimperley by Lissa Evans

Historical novel set just after World War II, following a young and recently demobbed baronet and his family as they cope with the changes wrought by the war. His dowager mother has Downton Abbey vibes.

So far, well-written, authentic, and funny in a wry English sort of way, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

I was about three chapters in before I went looking to see what else Lissa Evans has written— and it turns out she also wrote Wed Wabbit, only one of my ever favourite books that I read to my kid.

More than mere #historical record, Medallions offers the reader startling immediacy, the repetition of an event as it persists in the #testimonial present, in the scars on the consciousness and conscience of individuals.

#Historical and Cultural Context

Historically,
#polytheistic cultures have often been more #tolerant of religious #diversity and pluralism. For example, ancient #Roman religion incorporated #deities and practices from various conquered cultures, creating a #syncretic and #inclusive #religious environment. In contrast, #monotheistic religions have sometimes been associated with religious exclusivity and #intolerance, as seen in historical instances of #persecution #religiouspersecution and #conflict. #conflictstudies #peaceandconflict

Moreover, the #historical context of these texts involves #violent #conquest and the suppression of other religious practices, which raises ethical questions about religious freedom and the treatment of other cultures. Modern #humanrights frameworks emphasize the importance of #religiousfreedom, tolerance, and the respect for diverse cultural and religious practices. In summary, while the metaphor of whoring after other gods is a powerful rhetorical device in the Old Testament, it reflects the cultural and religious norms of its time and raises important ethical and human-rights considerations in a modern context.

"In the #OldTestament, is it true that practicing non-YHWHistic rituals was referring to "a-whoring after other gods"? If so, please provide #biblical references, exegesis, #historical context, critical analysis from a modernist and #humanrights perspective."

Yes, in the Old Testament, the practice of non-YHWHistic rituals was often referred to as "whoring after other gods" or similar phrases. This
#metaphorical language was used to describe the Israelites' engagement in the #worship of #deities other than #YHWH, which was considered a form of #spiritual #infidelity. Here are some biblical references, exegesis, historical context, and a critical analysis from a modernist and human-rights perspective.

Let's get back to Scotland, shall we?

This was a day spent once again exploring the picturesque and atmospheric ruins of Kilchurn Castle. Later, we explored Taynuilt village and its incredible monument.

Wanna see more photos from this day? You can! Isn't that lovely? Just go here -> iancylkowski.com/blog/2024/11/ 👍

Time for something a little more historical.

These photos were from a day walking around Taynuilt, the shores of Loch Etive, and exploring the ruins of Bonawe Iron Furnace.

Additionally, we also paid a quick visit to Glen Orchy and its beautiful waterfalls.

We're back from a week in the place on earth: the Scottish Highlands.

Something a little different: Welcome to St. Conan's Kirk!

An unusual building in that its architect blended multiple historical church styles into one building.

All shot on my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.
