#introduction :blobcatverified: (finally!)

hi, i am vimfn, currently a cs undergrad, my interests include compilers, computer networks, and ctfs.

beyond my studies, i enjoy my time playing chess, jamming to music, modding factorio or just tinkering with stuff to understand how they work.

ps i love simplicity and a great admirer of unix philosophy, minimalism and hacker ethics.

glad to be here.

Hi, I’m Ellie.

I’ve jumped to Mastodon after realising (again) how toxic big tech is. Trump and Musk’s obsession with controlling social media sealed it—I miss when it was about connecting, not just a tool for the rich to twist public opinion.

I’ll post a little bit about politics (Carol Cadwalladr fan!) but also pretty pictures, my pet, and travel snaps. Looking forward to actual conversations—not just whatever the algorithm wants me to see.

Hi.

Here is a small #Introduction. I'm not new by any means (this account was first created in 2017, I think) but I just moved to a new server, so it's polite to introduce myself to the long time residents here (and I can pin this post too in the process)

So I'm David, I'm slowly becoming an old man (oh no, please no!) and kids today, I swear...

I'm from #France, but I've lived in #Japan for a little while now.

I like reading, writing, and blogging (the last two are the same thing, right?) and I need to do all of them more instead of spending so much time on social media. And, I sound like one of my students doing self-introduction.
Yes, I'm a teacher too. An English teacher... and I'm French... In Japan... These things happen.

Apart from that, I'm your usual fediverse user I guess. Or, probably not as I don't work in tech and I seem more aware of the Fedviverse beyond Mastodon than your usual user.

Well, that was a shitty introduction. I may or may not edit it later.

I think it's time for a re-introduction!

Hello fediverse! I am an admin for Veganism.Social, VoIP engineer, sim-racer with @ethixracing, gamer, foodie, and long-time ethical vegan. I'm originally from South Florida, but now living in the Orlando area as of 2020. I'm usually not a very social person, but I'm trying to change that! I want to make a difference in the world, and one person cannot do that alone, so connecting with others is essential.

My political and ethical views are all centered around equality, compassion, and environmental protection. I am anti-capitalist, but I also understand that it's impossible in the current state of society to avoid participating in it. So I try to make the best decisions I can with the options given to me in order to minimize the harm it causes.

Humans and animals all over the world are facing troubling times, and thinking about it has taken a massive toll on my mental health. Now, I am trying to focus my efforts on things that I can change, rather than spreading myself too thin and not helping at all. This doesn't mean I'm ignoring all of the other suffering, but simply trying to prioritize based on what is within my reach.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and if you feel like we have something in common, give a follow! I look forward to meeting like-minded individuals and organizations that seek to make the world a better place!

For a bit more info about myself and my sim-racing efforts, check out this interview I did with @veganeasy last year.

A new year a renewed #introduction

I am Dude, associated with the movie but there the comparison ends.

An updated #Introduction for 2025:

I’m a dad, #cat whisperer, #computer nerd, occasional #gamer, and #movie lover. I’m a #quality minded #professional and I make my own #homebrew beer. #freebsd. Enthousiast I love #fitness #walking #programming in #python and #3Dprinting. Busy with #homeassistant and more.
Ik spreek voornamelijk Nederlands, Engels een beetje Duits.

#Introduction as my wife @kate has sent a bunch of people over here:

I’m Clare, 38, and a Youth Worker by trade though I don’t really talk about that here.

Instead I talk about my hobbies.

I run a D&D group every Sunday for local kids.

I read all sorts of books. Except horror because I’m a scaredy-cat.

I play a lot of lovely cozy video games and emotionally devastating story driven games (providing they don’t require skill)

I love cooking and crafting but I spend too much time sleeping

#Introduction (March 2025 edition)

Hi, I’m Kate. I’m a 41-year-old software developer based in the south-west of England. I’m best known for my National Grid: Live site at grid.iamkate.com.

I’m the Development Director at itseeze.com, where in 2007 I created a CMS that’s now used by thousands of sites across the UK and Ireland.

I’ve been in a relationship with @Clare since 2008, and we married in 2013. Same-sex marriage wasn’t legal yet, but we found a loophole: I’m trans.

Continued thread

Part 1 of my previous #introduction in English seems to have self-deleted. So, in brief:
Kindness (not always but I do my best); humanism. Science. Geopolitics.

Casual (gaming|music|photography|writing).

Not above the occasional shitpost.

Avatar is a line-drawn likeness I found on the label of a store-brand cola. Banner is a photo of backlit people looking at pictures in a museum.

.../...

I'm a digital craftsman (I can't call myself an artist) & working on 3D modeling / sculpting / texturing / environment & character design. I'm interested in few different subjects including horror & hentai. I hope you enjoy & thanks for looking! Comments, likes & re-posts are welcome 😊

Hi Fediverse! My #Introduction - new here cause I'm missing the days of seeing art and humor all in one place without so much garbage. Some of my big interests are music (esp Japanese music), journaling/stationery, art...been considering getting into web dev lately as another hobby. I speak Japanese (more or less) and am LGBTQ! If any of that sounds cool, feel free to say hi 😄

Hi, I am Mike!

I decided to write a small
#introduction, as I take my first steps as an artist on the fediverse.

I am a songwriter and a singer in my 20s. Originally I come from Poland, where I lived for the most of my life and then I made a choice to move to Austria.

Since the school, I've been writing songs and sharing them with my friends. I never had the courage to do anything more - publishing for everyone to listen felt too much and out of reach. I guess I didn't feel ready.

Couple of years ago I got into music production and decided to self-make my songs into what you can find now on streaming platforms. It's really cool nowadays, to have an opportunity to share my work, my music with you.

I've been on the mainstream social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram since always, but last years I didn't feel happy using them at all. I know, that a lot of people feel the same way, but since "everyone is there", they can't escape. Now I am following my fav saying - "be the change" - and making a hop to Fediverse in hope to find some like-minded people, who may enjoy the music and what I write.
I am looking forward to what my future on the Fediverse brings and what people will I stumble upon my journey.

Thanks for reading all of that. I wish you all the best ❤️

Regards,
Mike

PS. If you would like to listen to the song, that I like the most, here's the link -

The rest is then easy to find
❤️ Thank you for your time!

An #introduction, since my original one is long buried.

I'm a London-born musician, writer, artist and teacher living in Vienna. Most of my posts here are about #studio technology, #retrocomputing devices, #kpop and other diverse interests. I don't really have a brand to sell, but broadly I appreciate the #LGBTQ, leftist/anarchist and practical ethos that seems to thrive on Mastodon.

I occasionally drop a new album of music and they are all free to download. So, help yrself, yeah?
