TECC :archlinux:<p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/EA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EA</span></a> has confirmed that <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Battlefield" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Battlefield</span></a> 6 will be completely unplayable on <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> systems, including <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/SteamDeck" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SteamDeck</span></a>, due to its new kernel-level anti-cheat system, “EA Javelin,” which explicitly blocks Linux. This move is a slap in the face to the growing <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Linuxgaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linuxgaming</span></a> community, especially considering how far compatibility has come with <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Proton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Proton</span></a> and <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/SteamOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SteamOS</span></a>.</p><p>Worse yet, EA is using open-source tech like the <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/GodotEngine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GodotEngine</span></a> in parts of the game, while denying access to the very platforms that champion <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a>. It’s hypocritical and <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/anticonsumer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anticonsumer</span></a>.</p><p>There’s no option to disable <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/anticheat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anticheat</span></a> for <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/singleplayer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>singleplayer</span></a> or <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/privateservers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>privateservers</span></a>, meaning users who value <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>privacy</span></a> or <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/freedom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>freedom</span></a> of platform are locked out entirely.</p><p>It's a hostile decision rooted in control, not security.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Battlefield6" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Battlefield6</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Steam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Steam</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Games" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Games</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gaming</span></a></p>
