Many of you know that @Horatio and @as2 had been planning a trip to come visit a few of us here in the DFW area this summer.

An outgrowth of this & Joe's music tooting talent was periodically he would tag me & ask me to add ta song to the playlist for their trip.

It was called the "Pothole List" because of my claim DFW potholes are the worst. We had planned to drive DFW in search of potholes while listening to this.

And maybe partake of a few libations along the way.

@Kirk @Luther

His music taste was quite eclectic. I don't know if I turned him onto this band but they set the standard for psychedelic that soon followed.

Austin Texas' own 13th Floor Elevators.

"You're Gonna Miss Me"

The bus would be rocking as we dodged potholes, guaranteed.

Though he is gone, he is not far away and will always be a part of our hearts.

But he really loved this song by Dire Straits.

And so you know, I saved these songs in the order he requested them and several were on the same night.

Much like the architectural toots he would share, each one a classic unto itself for the time it was released.

Like this one from Paul Revere & The Raiders

"Kicks"

The following song is one I know I turned Joe onto during a past weekend music spree.

Though it is a look back at the days when the beach was the place to go, it takes on new meaning for me in that I wish we could do it again with Joe.

The Beach Boys

"Do It Again"

I had never really listened to any music from the following artist but Joe brought a lot of new music to my life.

Though this is a cover of a classic song, it rings true for all generations.

Cat Power

"Sea of Love"

And the original

Another artist I had never heard of until Joe brought her to my attention is Regina Spektor.

From the "Pothole Tapes"

"Two Birds"

And to follow Mr. Soul with the following.

This song nailed the sentiment of a generation.

And should serve as an anthem for us.

"There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind"

And as Joe was a Buffalo Springfield fan, how could we not conclude this segment with this classic.

"Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing"

Joe was a student of 60's folk rock.

Goin' back is what I wish we could do.

But for now this song by The Byrds will have to do.

"Goin' Back"

As a side note, listen to this and see the similarities.

Nothing new under the sun

I am going to end this for the night with a song that I loved when it first came out.

Joe, in his prelude to the link, made it seem like a new song.

And I hope those of you who have never heard it, enjoy it as much as us old farts do.

What a loving and sweet thing that you did for our friends here at FA.
I'm glad I came across this.
