@lianna @bpaassen overhyping your research result is not unique to the LLM and other ML related fields.

I have read so many novel and revolutionary papers about neuromorphic electronic devices and other semiconductor related innovations, that one would think that silicon based computing is surely on the decline, while in fact it is not.

In my estimation the bigger issue is that with the hype behind the "AI" stuff is used to mismanage capital to an incredible degree.

This is what's happening, eg government thinking that replacing human judges with Trained MOLEs allows them to cut costs *and* get more "rational" judgments. It doesn't do either.
