My Amaryllis bulbs have woke up,
looks like I lost one of the newer ones. Five out of six are leafing, not bad for an amateur.
@Bleukitty Ooo flower talk ... What colors are you growing? Congrats are in order for a successful start .
Thank you, they are red. Here is the original bulb I was gifted in 2018. The other images are upstairs on my Tablet.
Last year I had three bloomers!
@Bleukitty @cully45 These are spectacular, ladies!! Thank you so much for sharing! Well done
Thanking both of you...
@Bleukitty @cully45 I give credit where it's due. You earned that! Anyone who attempts to put beauty back into this world, no matter how small or private, is making life better for all of us in their own special way.
@Bleukitty Have you tried any bloom boosters?
Nope. Just organic fertilizer only after the blooms have died. Not suppose to feed them while blooming or during the wake up phase.
@Bleukitty Yep . Was just curious if you've ever experimented outside of those parameters & what your results were. I used to grow Amaryllis but kept getting virused ones. Yours are healthy! Do you remember where you got them??
The original was included in a gift basket, so no clue where it came from. I wish I had a small extra fridge, so I could bloom them for Christmas. I work with what I have and am so proud I've gotten this far!
@Bleukitty @cully45 That would be a lovely project! Like Ann said, well done! Take a bow!
I love flowers and greenery and blessed to be surrounded by them outside. We don't plant much, we have saplings we pull out of our woods. Mother Nature is always delivering something new...
@Bleukitty
@cully45 Kindred flower spirits . Since I get freezing temps here I have to dig, overwinter, & replant most of my flora & fauna every year but it's worth it. I'll post a couple pics of what my yard looked like last summer once I get settled for the AM. Started my workday at 2am & was finally able to check & Re: back to my notifications here .
@KrautThistle @Bleukitty
Yikes. We have cold here too, Northern Virginia. Cool, we can share pics!
@cully45 @Bleukitty Looking forward to seeing your parts of this planet we share . Have to scribble out my neighbor's house (& parts of mine) in many of the shots as I don't want to put too many personal identifiers like that online - so it will take me a little while before I can post anything.
Have some clients to connect with in a few so until then, God bless & keep you lovely lassies
@cully45 @Bleukitty O.K. I FINALLY got some time to scribble out my neighbor's house as well as most of mine in the photos. Apologies some are odd looking (sun glare).
This was my front yard last summer. There's bananas, tons of cannas, 2 different datura, purple castor bean, & elephant ears in this bed. #gardening #summer #tropicalplants #happiness
@cully45 It's crazy but I do it every year - & each year I add some different plants to keep things interesting.
@KrautThistle @Bleukitty
Hardly crazy. My mom was the gardner in our family, she learned from her father.
@cully45 How very cool !
@cully45 @Bleukitty Another shot at another angel. Scribbled my house out as best I could without compromising too much of the photo. I failed
@KrautThistle @Bleukitty
Beautiful, love seeing the sea in the background.
@cully45 Looks better than my house does behind it
@cully45 @Bleukitty Last one of the front display. This is along the side of my yard between my neighbor's house & mine. Notice how I placed taller plants along the fenceline to block my nosy neighbors ? I scribbled their house out because they're not nice people & I don't want to make them famous . P.S. Those cannas got 8' tall. Perfect block
@KrautThistle @Bleukitty
Wonderful!! Quite the green thumb.
@cully45 Thank you kindly love
@Bleukitty Thank you! Yes, green thumbs - & brown knees
It'll keep you in shape and beautiful surroundings...
Would you share which state or part of the country you reside?
I'm in NC.
@Bleukitty Oh goodness does it ever! Yes, that's one of the nicest things about gardening: adding beauty to the world & seeing people smile when they pass by.
I'm out on Long Island, NY. Southern Nassau County to be exact.
