Considering I shared some pro-Palestine posts it feels like a good time to post this, found it on Twitter. Because no, I am not saying "Israel is under attack by the bad mean Palestines and therefore Gaza has to be bombed" when it's mostly Palestinian civilians who have been suffering for way longer than I have been alive.

A ton of other German seems to be super eager to promise Israel their support without even checking what's going on in Gaza, or they just shout "but... but Hamas!" as a reflex at everything or whatever, because we always learned Israel are the good ones and if you say anything against the actions of the Israeli government you automatically disrespect all Jews and all victims of the Holocaust on top of that. And of course support a terrorist organization like Hamas.

No. Just no. Israel as a location is a very important country for Jews from all over the world, and needs to be treated with respect, same as the people living there. Killing a lot of Israeli people like Hamas is doing is a horrible crime, I certainly do not support actions like these.

However, leading a Jewish country with many religious sacred places doesn't give the Israeli government a free pass for every action they are doing, especially not for attempting genocide. Nobody should be. And I do not understand how so many people could even consider this a point to debate over. (Even more when people with a Ukrainian flag in their bio are doing this, like, this is a very similar situation this country is in. Why is one genocide attempt perfectly fine for you when the other one is a horrible thing you condemn and fight against?)

I do not support Hamas. I do not support crimes against Israeli people, no matter if they live in Israel or elsewhere. I do not support crimes against Jews. But I also do not support genocide and if you have an issue with this, the option to unfollow me is right there.
